On February 2, 2010 the Washington Elementary fifth graders were able to meet and interview the author of Miss Spitfire:Reaching Helen Keller, Sarah Miller. They were able to do this through the Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) equipment. The students read the book during library class and other times throughout the weeks prior to meeting the author. After creating questions about the book and the author, the students connected through the Internet to be able to converse with Sarah Miller. Using the projector screen and the IDL camera the students were able to see Ms. Miller and she was able to see the students and hear their questions.You can visit Sarah Miller's website at http://www.sarahmillerbooks.com.
