On March 31, 2010 the Washington Elementary fourth graders were able to meet and interview the author of Scrambled States of America, Laurie Keller. They were able to do this through the Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) equipment. The students read the book during library class prior to meeting the author. After creating questions about the book and the author, the students connected through the Internet to be able to converse with Laurie Keller. Using the projector screen and the IDL camera the students were able to see Ms. Keller and she was able to see the students and hear their questions.
