370E: Jewelry I/372E: Jewelry II
Prerequisite: 10,11,12, with passing grade in Introduction to 3-D Art

Jewelry I: You will learn basic construction techniques used in jewelry making: cutting, filing, annealing, forming, soldering, shaping, stone-setting, casting, and polishing. Projects may include pendants, rings, bracelets, and money clips. Metals will include copper, brass, and sterling silver. Student will be encouraged to form original ideas in developing independent thinking habits and to solve his/her own problems arising from the work.
Jewelry II: This course is an extension of Jewelry I. Emphasis will be placed on originality of design and the development of individual ideas. You will explore advanced techniques with relationship to cold and hot connections, use of materials, and forming/bending metals. Projects will be assigned which challenge you in the use of equipment, their knowledge, and in design while allowing for freedom of expression.
